New Trades Scholarship Opening Doors for Women in Newfoundland and Labrador
2015 Trades Scholarship for Women - Recipients Announced

Thanks to the 2015 Trades Scholarship for Women, Women in Resource Development Corporation (WRDC) in partnership with Newfoundland and Labrador Hydro (NL Hydro) presented eight first year female trades students with scholarships valued at $2,000 each. The scholarship funds will assist with the cost of their post-secondary educational programs, and advance their careers in the skilled trades.

With 27 applicants from across the province, the quality of applicants for the scholarship were exceptional. The diverse group of scholarship recipients and course of study include:

Courtney Norris - Heavy Equipment Operator;

Barbara Reid - Industrial Mechanic (Millwright);

Amy Bishop - Construction/Industrial Electrician;

Brittany Piercey - Welding;

Melanie Thomas - Construction/Industrial Electrician;

Samantha Carroll-Rolo - Construction/Industrial Electrician;

Leanna Carbage - Welding; and

Hannah Melanson - Welding.
