Instructor of Adult Basic Education Communications and Coordinator for Orientation to Trades and Technology Program
Cindy graduated from Memorial University of Newfoundland in 1991 with a Bachelor of Arts: English and Psychology and a Bachelor of Education.
She became employed with Eastern Community College in Adult Education for displaced miners from St. Lawrence Fluorspar mine. For three additional years she worked with displaced fisheries people.
She moved to British Columbia and worked in secondary high school, and with Northwest Community College in Adult Education. She coordinated several transition programs such as Career Development, tutored, and taught communications including ESL. In 2000, she returned to Newfoundland and began Coordinating OTT at Burin Campus of the College of the North Atlantic. She continues to work at Burin as a Communications instructor or Coordinator of Orientation to Trades and Technology. Cindy volunteers for the campus Occupational Health and Safety committee, and committee organizer for the Skills Work for Women conference held annually for grade 10 girls. She promotes the active participation of women in non-traditional training every chance she gets.
Cindy is and has been involved in several community groups such as the Public Library Board, District Commissioner- Girl Guides of Canada, NL Minor Basketball Local Executive Co-Chair, Parent Director-Senior Girls 3A Basketball Team, and fundraiser for all these organizations.
Cindy chooses to live in the rural community of St. Lawrence with her husband William and three children, Caitlin, Megan and Lukas.
