Leslie moved to Newfoundland and Labrador in 1982 and has been proud to call it home ever since. She is currently working as the Executive Director of the St. John's Status of Women Council.

Over the past 29 years, Leslie has worked with worked with a wide variety of community-based organizations and government departments. A great deal of her paid and volunteer work has been focused on advancing the equality of women and persons with disabilities. Leslie has served on numerous committees, working groups and boards of directors.
