WRDC is committed to increasing women's participation in the oil and gas industry in Newfoundland and Labrador. It does so by raising awareness of career options among women, and by offering support to those who seek training and employment there.

The program encourages the establishment of partnerships with industry and training institutions to develop programming that decreases the barriers to recruitment and retention of women. WRDC is a member of the External Relations Committee of the Newfoundland Ocean Industries Association (NOIA).
